Well Breathing: Pranayama Workshop

Breathing is a natural and automatic process, but when we learn to pay attention to our breath and utilize different breathing techniques, we can tap into a deeper sense of calm, focus, power, and natural energy within ourselves. This workshop offers an education & exploration of breath practices & movements to deepen your understanding and relationship to your breath. Learn the foundational anatomy & physiology of how breath moves in your body, how it affects your physical energy, mental state, emotions, and over-all well-being. Then enjoy a yoga asana practice that will help open the body to experience a deeper and fuller breath, followed by a selection of pranayama (breath techniques) to enhance your connection to, and experience the many different benefits that breath awareness and control can bring. You’ll leave with the tools to relieve physical & mental tension, and shift your emotional state, all on your own through some simple postures and breath awareness practices that you can use in your daily life.

Breanna brings a unique and strong support to this work through her many years of study and experience as a yoga teacher, registered nurse, and yoga practitioner. This workshop is accessible for most people with some basic yoga experience: modifications and options are given for movements and postures to suit any body, and there is no previous breath practice experience necessary.

Deep Rest: Intro to Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a practice of creating an open and rested state of being to nourish ourselves more fully. It is a guided, meditative journey through all layers of our being that supports us to move into slower, more easeful brain wave states where we can drop below the busyness of the conscious, thinking mind and access the subconscious mind. By working with the subconscious mind we have the opportunity to reprogram belief systems and patterns that inform our conscious mind and waking life.

Yoga Nidra translates to sleep with awareness, it is a deep dive into the Self bringing us to rest in peace and supreme stillness. This practice puts us directly into connection with that part of self that remembers itself as already completely whole.

This workshop is open to all levels of practitioners both new and seasoned. It will be an introduction to the practice of Yoga Nidra including an overview of the philosophy behind it, as well as the science that supports and validate this ancient practice. We will also discuss the use of Sankalpa (affirmative statements) in the practice and select one to work with. Through this workshop we will be deepening your understanding of how the practice works to facilitate healing and deep rest as well as giving you a whole experience of the practice itself.

We will begin with a brief discussion and gentle movement followed by 40 minutes of the Yoga Nidra practice which is done lying on your back, well supported by props for maximal comfort
